INTERESTING FACTS
The Calleri Vineyard borders our Wheeler vineyard to the North and Tres Pinos Creek to the South and West. It is a flat alluvial fan with deep and well drained gravelly loam soils. In the 1998 El Nino we lost 8 acres of vineyard to the flooding Tres Pinos Creek. A distillery operated on this property during Prohibition, which later became a bonded winery, delivering wines to the New Idria Mines in South San Benito County. The winery is gone but the wine tradition lives on through the interesting portfolio of Italian and French varieties planted on this ranch.
